OFFICIAL GUIDE OF NOTO in italian and english edition
soon available in japanese
The first part of this guide presents the city of Noto and takes you step by step along an approximately 4-hour tour starting from the central Piazzale Marconi. We will take you along Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the main route of the baroque city, whose reconstruction followed a devastating earthquake in 1693 and was entrusted to talented architects who designed and constructed the spectacular complex of churches and palaces that we see today perfectly preserved. The streets, squares, palaces and churches you will come across are illustrated by descriptive text and a set of unique images of superior quality.
Noto is the capital of Baroque; the stone used in its construction plays with the warm sunlight and the thousands of details of its architecture and creates the "Giardino di Pietra" (Garden of Stone), an emotional space that welcomes, envelops and almost imprisons visitors.
Its jewels are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and are included in the World Heritage List. The people of Noto reciprocate this great honour with careful and constant protection and care of the city, a commitment that for years has extended to its surrounding area made up of mountains, sea and fertile countryside. The citys culture thus becomes the culture of the area and the second part of the guide will take you to some of its outstanding landmarks: archaeological surprises, itineraries of faith, pristine nature reserves, coasts and seaside villages.
